Grown Above the Clouds:

The Story of Our Rwenzori-Sourced Coffee

our story

Growing up at Jaja’s house—“Jaja” means both grandfather and grandmother- Coffee was not just part of our livelihood; it was part of our identity. Whenever Jaja got his hands on new seedlings, he would plant more trees with pride. And during harvest, his voice would ring across the farm: “Pick only the red cherries!”

I watched passion, precision, and hard work poured into every bean. Yet when the coffee finally reached the market, the returns never matched the effort. Families invested their strength, time, and hope only to receive so little in return.

Our journey at Wenzi Coffee begins in the Rwenzori region, where coffee is more than a crop -it is a lifeline for thousands of families like my own. From the beginning, we recognized both the challenges farmers face and the extraordinary potential of this land to produce world-class Arabica.

Wenzi was built on direct-trade partnerships that place farmers at the centre. By working hand-in-hand with growers, paying fairly, and ensuring that value stays within the communities where the coffee is cultivated, we are transforming generational effort into generational opportunity. Through direct access to global markets, every bean now tells two stories: one of exceptional flavour, and one of dignity, fairness, and a brighter future.

Ancient geographers once marked this region as the legendary“Mountains of the Moon.”

Today, the Rwenzori remain just as remarkable—an origin where altitude, climate,

and tradition come together to produce extraordinary coffee.
